Time management is an essential part of life as there are limited hours to get things done, time management is needed in every day situations such as in the workforce it i also important for coaches. coaches usually only have 1.5 – 2.5 hours of coaching per session and it is up to them to find the most time effective methods to get everything completed. this is why it is important for all coaches to have some sort of a coaching plan for every session so they can get as much productivity out of their team. this is why at a coaching session there are different aspects such as warm up, skills, fitness and other task specific drills. it is important that the coach allocates time for each  of the these areas so the team gets a variety of coaching

“What potential problems could you see with Coach carter’s coaching style”. if the boy’s did not respond to this coaching style they would have quit and there would not have been a team at all coach carter is lucky that the boys loved basketball and they wanted to play therefore coach carter got the results he did. another potential problem is that not everyone is suited to an autocratic coaching style there could have been more conflicts with the boys and their parents. this coaching style could also turn the boys of the game and make them quit sport all together.

I thought that I went pretty good considering that it was my first time doing this and I was by myself. I could have made my rules a bit firmer as the boys I was coaching/ refereeing had friends on the other team and all they wanted to do was smash each other. I think that I got everyone involved pretty well as they were all playing I think my instructions and my setting up and packing up of the equipment was good.

The three main coaching styles i may have to use are

  • Autocratic- strict, make all decisions, in total control.
  • Democratic- make decisions with players, more relaxed environment.
  • Laisse faire- relaxed, do not care too much.
  1. In school sport we would use autocratic when we are setting up and getting the teams ready and explaining rules.
  2. Democratic would be used in the middle of the of games when teams ma have to be modified or the game has to be changed.
  3. At the end of games when we are warming down and finished i would use the laisse faire coaching method and relax with the players and get to know them more

Inconclusion this is what i beliveve are the three main coaching styles i may have to use when coaching school sport.

  1. 1. sportsmanship:
  • -shake everyone’s hand including opposition and referees before and after every game.
  • -treat others  as you would like to be treated.
  • -be fair to everyone  everyone and play by the rules.
  • - don’t talk  bad about team mates and put them down.
  1. 2.wining and losing.
  • -wining is great
  • -aim is to win and have fun every game, but it is not the end of the world.
  • - good things come out of loosing such as finding weaknesses, coming together and becoming stronger.
  1. 3. holistic development
  • -people have the chance to develop:
  • physically
  • socially
  • emotionally
  • mental
  • spiritual
